Use of drones in the Protection of Critical Infrastructure
Critical infrastructure consists of the systems of elements, institutions, and services whose continuing operations are vital to life.
Problems that arise which prevent routine operations or working, disrupt them, or destroy them, thereby causing short-term or permanent service interruptions, either directly or indirectly have a serious negative effect on residents economic or social well-being, the meeting of basic needs, free movement, public health, public security, national security, the national economy, and last, but not least, the government and leadership of a given country.
Critical infrastructure requires special attention and perspicuity with respect to security strategy that is developed to protect the critical infrastructure, of which the first and most important step is to identify the critical infrastructure elements (objects, elements, equipment).
It is a specific fact that from country to country, but also from region to region, the tasks and roles of a given facility can differ. In a developed country the energy supplier or energy production system (such as power plants), will certainly be identified as critical infrastructure, whereas in a developing country -- where power service is not continuous and power outages of up to several hours are not uncommon -- might not receive the same qualification.
The definition of critical infrastructure depends on political, government, and economic leadership. After the critical infrastructural elements have been identified, it is possible to develop a protection plan in order to safeguard it.
Our company uses AirRobot and DJI drones in order to produce site surveys and research. A basic characteristic of these systems, is that they are reliable and can be employed quickly. Numerous universities worldwide, as well as law enforcement already use drones of these nature.
With the help of these drones, we are able to produce surveys much more quickly and cost-effectively, for example in cases where technical supervision or research is required.
